Fontys Pool

Fonty's Pool is a joint venture project between Cape Mentelle Vineyards and Fonty's Pool Farm, where fruit is sourced from the Fonty's Pool Pemberton vineyards, and vinified under the direction of the experienced wine making team at Cape Mentelle in Margaret River.

Premium sites within the original vineyard have been selected to provide fruit for the project, with the objective of creating wines which emphasise their regional origins.

Managed by our experienced viticulture team, Fonty's Pool Farm has 110 hectares under vine, on the original farm owned by pioneer settler Archie Fontanini, who was granted the land by the Government in 1907.

Historically, the farm was intensively farmed for vegetables, and when Fonty's Pool Farm Pty Ltd purchased the property in 1989, it was identified as a prime site for wine grapes, and a vine planting regime was begun.

In the white grape varieties, there are 36 hectares of Chardonnay, 14 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, and smaller plantings of Semillon, Viognier, Marsanne and Verdelho.

Red grape varieties comprise 18 hectares of Merlot, 16 hectares of Pinot Noir, 8 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, 8 hectares of Shiraz, and smaller plantings of Cabernet Franc and Malbec.

Around 40 hectares of grapes are farmed for the Fonty's Pool label, sourced from premium sites within the vineyards. Crafted by an experienced wine making team, Fonty's Pool wines are a true expression of their regional origins. With an abundance of water and the vines set against a backdrop of karri and jarrah forests, the picturesque vineyards are a sight to behold for any visitor.
